Top institutions all across the country have been researching this and it is now known that sitting all day is very detrimental to our health. When we sit for long periods, triglycerides increase, good cholesterol drops and our bodies become inflamed. Sitting for too long is a stroke risk factor that you can control and most of the time avoid. It can also lead to poor posture and extremely tight muscles, especially in the lower back, hips, and legs. That is why I always recommend standing desks or sit-to-stand workstations for my patients. Most companies will even accomodate these requests, and pay for it, especially if it is linked to certain health conditions and recommended by a healthcare professional.
