Did you know that women have a 50% higher chance than men of receiving the wrong initial diagnosis following a heart attack?

1 in 4 women dies of a heart attack.  Women are misdiagnosed or ignored by the doctors and other professionals due to the lesser known symptoms women present to them.  They only get help after symptoms become very persistent.

Recognize the symptoms and act fast.

Symptoms of a heart attack that women should know:

unexplained sweating (cold)

unexplained shortness of breath with or without chest discomfort*

* Chest discomfort- pressure, squeezing, pinching or burning sensation - comes and goes

pain or tightness of the jaw

pressure or burning on the shoulder and/or upper arm (one or both)

dizziness or lightheadedness

nausea/indigestion/heartburn or stomach pain

extreme exhaustion or unexplained weakness for days at a time

a long-lasting cough that produces white or pink mucus

dry heaving

swelling- legs, ankles and/or feet

Heart disease is the no.1 killer of women in the US

Women do not make themselves a priority especially when it comes to their health and well-being

It takes a very long time for the plaque to build up in the arteries.  Genetics, stress, lifestyle (eating, rest, smoking, other things- other medical conditions - ex. diabetes; all need to be factored into when it comes to heart disease.
